Review of Rosie Green’s A Winter Wedding at the Little Duck Pond Cafe!

Celebrating the release of Rosie Green’s A Winter Wedding at the Little Duck Pond Cafe, I am delighted to share my review…

My review:

This was a lovely catch up with the inhabitants of Sunny Brook and all at the Little Duck Pond cafe. The story was told from the perspectives of Ellie, Jaz and Fen, key characters from previous books, and it was great to get their insight into the forthcoming event, as well as to see how their own relationships had developed. Fen remains one of my favourite characters.

After the lead up to this story, I would have liked a little bit more about the actual wedding itself, and to have shared in more of the warmth of Zak and Ellie’s relationship. I really like them as a couple and just felt, for me, the lovely Zak was a bit absent, when he should have been one of the stars of the show. (Can you tell I’ve got a soft spot for him?)

Overall, it’s a fab series, with characters who will become your friends, and a setting you will want to move into.

Rosie Green joins my Christmas Countdown!

Followers of my blog will know two things: 1) My Christmas countdown is underway, whoop whoop! 2) I love books by Rosie Green. So, what better than to have Rosie stop by, to talk about the fact she has TWO fabulous festive reads out this season?

Welcome to my blog Rosie. Oh my goodness, two Christmas books, I feel spoilt for choice! To help me decide which to read first, I’d love to know what your characters will be up to this Christmas…

A happy Christmas definitely isn’t on the cards in the opening chapters of Snowflakes over Moondance Cottage, what with Jess, the main character, having to put up with a surly (but very fit) builder knocking down walls in her precious old family home. Her mum is acting strangely and her sister seems to have a mysterious agenda of her own. Recent family Christmases have been sad and tinged with tragedy. But maybe this year, the magic of Christmas will heal old wounds and bring the family the very best gift of all…

In A Winter Wedding at the Little Duck Pond Cafe, the villagers are preparing to celebrate with Ellie and Zak at gorgeous Brambleberry Manor – but will everything go according to plan? It has to be a happy Christmas, hasn’t it?

I love the sound of the fit builder 😉 and I am desperate for Ellie and Zak to finally make it up the aisle. Maybe the blurbs will help me decide:

Well that’s decided … I’ll just have to dive straight in to both!

As part of my Christmas countdown, I am also asking authors what they will be up to this festive season, where will you be spending your Christmas?

At home, as always. I wouldn’t really want to be anywhere else! I suppose it’s a legacy from when my son was little and it was lovely for him to wake up to Christmas and all the excitement in his own house. He’s eighteen now but Christmas Eve still feels as sprinkled with magic as it did back then. Our festivities begin on the 24th. Relatives arrive in the morning and I’ll begin preparing turkey and all the trimmings in the afternoon. We have our Christmas dinner that night, which I love because it means that by the time Christmas Day dawns, I’ve done all the hard work and I can spend the big day itself just relaxing and eating chocolate. A recipe for total bliss in my opinion.

Review of Rosie Green’s Bonfires and Hot Chocolate at the Little Duck Pond Cafe

Today, I am taking part in the blog tour for Rosie Green’s autumnal feel good read, Bonfires and Hot Chocolate at the Little Duck Pond Cafe.

My review:

I love autumn and so I was very happy to see this addition to the Little Duck Pond series. Regular inhabitants of Sunnybrook all get a mention, but this book focuses on the character of Primrose and her continued search for her grandmother. It made for  a cosy read on an autumnal evening.

There is a gentle love story that unfolds as Primrose establishes herself within the community, and while there are two possible suitors it soon becomes apparent who is the right choice. As for who Primrose’s grandmother is, Rosie Green does a good job of keeping you guessing until almost the end of the book. But needless to say, you’ll be left feeling as warm and cosy as those who enjoy the bonfire and accompanying hot chocolate!

I have always liked Fen (introduced in earlier books) so I was delighted that this book provided the opportunity to see her character develop further too; discovering who won the battle of the bakes and what happens next for Fen, was a real treat for me.

Bonfires and Hot Chocolate at the Little Duck Pond Cafe could be read as a standalone book, but I think you’ll enjoy the characters and their development more if you follow their stories through the series.

Review of Rosie Green’s Confetti at the Little Duck Pond Cafe

Today, I am delighted to be taking part in the blog tour for Rosie Green’s Confetti at the Little Duck Pond Cafe.

My review:

I can’t believe Rosie Green and her Little Duck Pond series are on to novella number six, already! I must confess to missing a couple (totally my fault for not getting through my tbr pile fast enough) but it didn’t hamper my enjoyment of Confetti at the Little Duck Pond Cafe. While there are, by this book, many characters inhabiting Ellie’s world in Sunnybrook, enough information is given about each to gauge their pertinence in previous novellas.

This time around, Rosie Green gives us laughter, and mayhem, with a cow and a puppy causing all sorts of commotion, as well as tackling some more delicate and thought provoking issues. It was great to revisit the regulars and to see Ellie and Zak interacting and learning to work together as they attempted to enter the next phase of their relationship.

Confetti at the Little Duck Pond Cafe was a novella with a big heart; making for another entertaining read, with loveable characters in an idyllic setting, that will leave you with a smile and wanting to revisit Sunnybrook again soon.

Review of Rosie Green’s Christmas at the Little Duck Pond Cafe

Today, I am delighted to be taking part in the blog tour for Rosie Green’s Christmas at the Little Duck Pond Cafe. This is the third of Rosie’s Little Duck Pond novellas.

My review:

This was my third visit to the Little Duck Pond Cafe and so it felt like returning to catch up on old friends.

Christmas at the Little Duck Pond Cafe follows the story of Fen, who is introduced in the first novella. Fen has been a bit of a shy character in previous books, never really coming to the fore and so it was great to see her take centre stage and shine in this novella. It was good to get to know her better and to will her to find her confidence and the happy ending she deserved.

This was a lovely story about personal growth, finding love and discovering who your friends really are. Being a novella, it is ideal to fit in, during the busy lead up to Christmas and was a great way to escape for a few hours; I am always happy to lose myself in the warm and welcoming world of those who live in and around The Little Duck Pond Cafe and look forward to the next in the series.
